Abstract

Simona Lo Iacono is a contemporary woman writer whose works are little known within the Hispanic world. She pertains to the Italian context – more specifically, the Sicilian world –, which turns her into an unpublished writer in need of being studied in detail in order to understand not only the characteristics of her literary production, but also to dive deeper in Sicilian history and culture. As a result, the analysis of her novel Le streghe di Lenzavacche(2016) becomes fundamental: with the main focus on various abandoned, marginalized, pregnant women, the novel shows how they eventually end up together in a house and share a joint experience that allows them to go beyond the common, but which will also lead them to be judged as demonic. It is in this light that the study is an open door into the complex island esoteric world that has already been present in publications such as the one dedicated to Marinella Fiume.
