Rentabilidad de la ganadería de carne con vacas de cría en zonas de montaña

Abstract

During the Research Project entitled "Meat Production Systems in Mountain Areas. Sustainable Development and Profitability”, led by Dr. José Antonio García Paloma (SERIDA, 2002-2003), periodical monitoring was carried out on 14 Asturian meat farms located in mountain areas. The technical and economic data that was collected has made it possible to analyse the profitability of these production units in the years 2002 and 2003. In the presented work, economic indicators such as the income created by the farm, the contribution margin per cow and the profitability threshold have been measured, and their subsequent analysis helps to identify the factors that characterise the most profitable farms.
