Abstract

During the final years of the 20th century, and within the context of realigning the Common Agricultural Policy, the need arose to protect and promote agricultural or food products with specific characteristics and to help promote the diversification of agricultural production. It is also considered that, given the enormous variety of marketed products and the huge quantity of information on them, the consumer should have access to clear and concise information that guarantees the quality of products. This is the context in which the Collective European Brands were created, the use of which is guaranteed by an effective monitoring structure, to provide the consumer with reliable information to make informed decisions.
