Medición de la integración económica de España, en un marco contable

Abstract

One of the distinct features of international economic relationships over the last decades has been the proliferation of international commercial associations, which has led to the interest of economic literature in measuring their levels of integration. To some extent, this report can be placed in this stream of the literature, since its aim is to measure the level of integration by analyzing the commercial relationships between a set of economies that constitute a block. Nevertheless, it can be also placed within regional economics, since the analysis is run for an interregional context (more precisely, for Spanish regions). The analysis of a country instead of a commercial association helps in the interpretation of the level of commercial integration. In contrast to other types of analysis, we use input-output methodology in order to get a measure of the set of Spanish regions as a whole. To achieve this aim, it is necessary to build a table with the commercial relationships between the Spanish regions, as well as with the stock of resources and the employment in production in each of them. This analysis will allow us, firstly, to study the temporal evolution of the level of economic integration within Spanish regions. On a second stage, this level of integration will be compared with other commercial blocks.
