Ética, confidencialidad y enfermería. Mi historia, ¿la historia de todos?

Abstract

The nurse/patient/user relationship is presided over by the right to privacy and maintains confidentiality as the basis for development of health care. The patient/user contains information that his most intimate part to a professional in which entrusted since time immemorial, and must answer this with loyalty to this act of confidence. The codes of conduct of the health professions have always protected this relationship, joining in all of them the duty of secrecy, not laws, which have begun to pick up these aspects as rights of people from relatively recently, Constitution 1978 Spanish, Ley General de Sanidad1986. But, the legal existence of the right and duty, must not make us forget that on the day of the health care can occur situations where privacy and confidentiality are at risk, the professionals should sensitize us on these issues and besides updating our knowledge and skills we must also improve our actions so that trust that the patient/user place in us is well guarded.
