Las cadenas nominales y la estigmatización de la realidad referida en el periodismo informativo

Abstract

In a series of works about discourse coherence it has been pointed out that thanks to nominative chains a certain perspective of the reality referred to is provided (Bernárdez, 1982; Calsamiglia Blancafort y Tusón Valls, 1999; Cuenca, 2000). This study deals with nominative chains as devices that make the addressee create a mental representation of an entity which is consonant with the speaker’s communicative aim. In particular, it is showed how journalists can guide the readers towards negative representations of a referent by means of nominative chains. From the view of Relevance Theory (Sperber y Wilson, 1986), the paper also explains the way some noun phrases trigger certain inferential processes that have an influence on the addressee’s mental representation of reality.
