Abstract

After the publication of El camino de Ida (2013) and the recent publication of Los diarios de Emilio Renzi. Años de formación (2015), we can ask why Piglia reexamines William Henry Hudson, an Anglo-American writer, and what kind of relationship the author and the character (Emilio Renzi, Piglia’s recurrent alter ego) have with this Nineteenth-century writer: Is it the same for both? What does Piglia, as a critic, find interesting in Hudson? Which are the concomitances between them? Why is Hudson’s perspective relevant for Emilio Renzi?
