Resumen : Through this paper I would like to think over the dissemination of archaeology in Asturias. It is not my intention to expose the existing historical-archaeological paradigms with all the traditional myths and current alternative accounts about the region’s past. Actually, I have selected two historical episodes that I consider relevant to Asturian society about their history. Specifically, I will refer to the slight Romanization of the territory, which has served nationalisms and regionalisms to justify the so-called “Reconquista” by the Asturian Kingdom and the myth of the indomitable Celt. Although these issues have been overcome by the archaeological research lines that emerged in the late seventies and that are fully established from the eighties, they are still well embedded in the culture, identity and even the advertising in the region. Finally, the main goal of my participation is to rethink our models of archaeological dissemination and how they affect and influence our society.
